LATAM Solidarity Plane contributes to the social development of Brazil.

LATAM has made several commitments to promote sustainable development. Among them, social inclusion, income generation and the eradication of hunger and poverty stand out, guidelines that the company tirelessly seeks to act to mitigate this difficult reality.

In order for positive impacts to be effectively generated, the LATAM Solidarity Plane is a LATAM social program that offers all its infrastructure and connectivity free of charge in favor of society, reducing distances in a country with such large dimensions, being an important agent of transformation that works by supporting NGOs and institutions that work to break down the borders of social inequality.

Last year, LATAM’s Solidarity Plane positively impacted more than 1 million people throughout the country, over the 11 years of the program, 14,000 tickets have already been donated, in addition to the free transport of cargo to carry out voluntary activities of more than 20 social institutions supported by the program.

With around 20 partner NGOs, such as Gerando Falcões, SOS Mata Atlântica, Ampara Animal, Cruz Vermelha, just to name a few, LATAM’s Solidarity Plane provides the air network and all the expertise in logistics to carry out the actions that connect who needs it most.

To minimize the impacts of hunger and the fight against food waste, we can highlight the partnership with Gastromotiva, a social institution that promotes education, inclusion and the fight against waste, through food. Since 2015, with the Social Gastronomy Movement, LATAM has helped with the donation of airline tickets for the development of activities and with the transport of disposable packaging, which this year alone has transported more than 5 tons for the preparation and donation of meals in different cities in Brazil.

The partnership with LATAM combines the company’s logistics expertise with Gastromotiva’s social transformation work, and has been fundamental for expanding the territory and expanding the impact of our programs, especially at a time when we had to adapt our operating model to meet the growing number of people facing hunger.”, explains David Hertz, president and founder of Gastromotiva.

Another great partnership is with the NGO Amigos do Bem, which promotes ongoing projects for education, income generation (such as the donation of used bags and obsolete uniforms to new destinations) and access to water, housing and health in the northeastern hinterland. LATAM’s Solidarity Plane offers free transportation for volunteers (there are already 450 tickets donated in 2022) and supplies to meet the needs of thousands of people.

To help eradicate menstrual poverty, LATAM teamed up with Procter & Gamble and together they took over one million Always® tampons to 5 Brazilian states: Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco. The sanitary pads were donated and transported free of charge on LATAM flights that, upon arrival at their destinations, were distributed to the communities benefited with the support of the Brazilian Red Cross (CVB) and the Amazonas State Department of Social Assistance, benefiting approximately 40,000 people. .

The company believes that only by joining forces, through collaborative work, can we transform lives and contribute to a fairer and better world.
