Latin American Presidents Congratulate Gabriel Boric for Victory in Chile

The presidents of different countries of the Latin America posted on Twitter this Sunday (19) to congratulate deputy Gabriel Boric for the victory in the presidential election of Chile.

Boric defeated lawyer José Antonio Kast, a far-right candidate, according to the country’s Electoral Service. With 99.47% of the ballots counted, the new president had 55.86% of the votes, while his opponent had 44.14%.

Luis Lacalle Pou, president of the Uruguay, said: “I congratulate the elected president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and I wish him success for the good of the Chilean people.” The president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, sent a “fraternal greeting to the Chilean people, who today elected their new president, Gabriel Boric. [Desejo] Success in your management for the well-being of your people”.

the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, also published on the social network. “I want to congratulate Gabriel Boric for being elected president of the beloved people of Chile. We must make a commitment to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood that unite our countries and to work together with the region to end inequality in Latin America.”

In its publication, the president of the Colombia, Iván Duque, said: “We congratulate Gabriel Boric on his election as the new president of Chile. I express our interest in continuing to work together to strengthen the historic and fraternal bilateral relationship that unites us. We are brother countries”.

“Congratulations on your triumph, my dear friend Gabriel Boric! The victory he achieved belongs to the Chilean people, and the Latin American peoples who want to live in freedom, peace, justice and dignity share it! Let us continue to fight for the unity of our nations”, said Pedro Castillo, president of Peru, who also elected in 2021.

Miguel Díaz-Canal, president of Cuba, also greeted the new president: “Cordest congratulations to Gabriel Boric on his election as president of Chile in a popular victory history. We ratify the will to expand bilateral relations and cooperation between both peoples and governments”.

In Europe, the prime minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, congratulated Boric: “congratulations Gabriel Boric on his victory in Chile’s presidential elections. The Chilean people are moving forward with hope for a fairer, more just, feminist and ecological future. Our countries will continue to strengthen their relations, strengthening the ties between Latin America and the European Union”.
