Lavrov: In Turkey for talks that will allow the export of Ukrainian grain

THE Sergei Lavrov traveled to Turkey and will discuss the possibility of Russia allowing the export of Ukrainian cereals from the Black Sea, in order to prevent the possibility of a food crisis.

The Russian Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet later today with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu. At the heart of the negotiations, the possibility of Ukrainea major global producer of cereals, to export its crops that are currently blocked in its ports.

It is noted that at the request of the United Nations, Turkey offered its assistance to escort sea convoys from Ukrainian ports, despite the existence of mines, some of which were located near Turkish shores, which were placed after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to Turkish Agriculture Minister Vahit Kirisci, Ankara has made “an agreement with Ukraine that will deliver us (at a price) 25% cheaper than that of FOB”, the purchase price which includes the destination price. A gesture, according to him, to thank Turkey.

It is recalled that Russia has blocked Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea and banned the export of Ukrainian grain, with the West warning that if this situation continues, then there will be a global food crisis.
