Lavrov: Moscow’s “comprehensive” treaty with Iran will include defense

The treaty Russia and Iran plan to sign soon will include closer defense cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today. The two countries’ military ties are a source of deep concern for the West as Russia wages war against Ukraine and Iran and Israel exchange missile and airstrikes in the Middle East. “The treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Iran that is being prepared will become an important factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations,” Lavrov said on state television.
