Negotiations between Moscow and Kiev aimed at resolving the conflict are “at a standstill,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today, as the talks have not led to any clear progress.
“They are at a standstill, as a proposal we submitted to the Ukrainian negotiators five days ago, which was formulated in the light of their comments, remains unanswered,” Lavrov told a news conference in Moscow with his Kazakh counterpart. Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
The Russian Foreign Minister also said that he had doubts about the willingness of the Ukrainian leadership to continue these negotiations.
“It’s very strange for me to hear statements (…) every day, including from the President of Ukraine and his advisers, that give the impression that they do not need these negotiations at all,” Lavrov said, without elaborating.
Russian and Ukrainian negotiators held talks today, according to the head of the Moscow delegation.
