Lavrov: Stop fighting to talk

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today that the goal of his country’s invasion of Ukraine was to “free” Ukrainians from “oppression”, adding that Moscow did not consider it possible to recognize the current Ukrainian authorities as democratic.

“President Putin has decided on this special military operation to demilitarize, de-Naziize, to free themselves from this oppression, the Ukrainians will be able to freely choose their future,” Lavrov added during a meeting with dissident provincial officials. and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian minister rejected the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has indicated that he is ready to discuss a state of neutrality for his country and added that Moscow is ready for talks as soon as the Ukrainian army stops fighting.
