Lavrov: West’s ‘total war’ against Moscow will last a long time

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today denounced the “total war” against Russia, which he said would last “a long time.”

“The West has declared a full-scale war against us, against the whole of the Russian world,” Lavrov said during a meeting with Russian provincial officials.

“We can say that this situation will last for a long time,” the Russian minister said, as Western powers have stepped up sanctions against Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine.

“The US and its satellites are doubling, tripling and quadrupling their efforts to thwart Russia using a variety of means: starting with unilateral, economic sanctions and ending with propaganda that is deeply based on lies (and is broadcast) by the world media.” , Lavrov complained, referring to “unprecedented Russophobia”.

He opposed the so-called “culture of annulment”, claiming that the West had banned the classic Russians: Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Pushkin.

Many Western cultural institutions have stopped cooperating with Russian state institutions or imposed bans on artists supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
