‘Law & Order’ production team member dies after being shot on set

A 31-year-old man who worked for the production team on NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was shot and killed while reserving parking spaces Tuesday morning, New York police said. York.

The victim was later identified as 31-year-old Johnny Pizarro of Queens, according to a press release from city security forces.

Pizarro, hired to do parking enforcement for the production company, was sitting in a car on North Henry Street in Brooklyn when a robber allegedly opened the vehicle’s door and fired his gun, hitting his neck and head at around 5:00 a.m. local time, according to NYPD spokesperson, Detective Sofia Mason.

The attacker fled while rescuers took the victim to a nearby hospital, where Pizarro succumbed to his injuries, Mason said. According to the detective, investigators are still looking for the shooter and a motive for the crime, and are analyzing surveillance footage in the area.

In a statement, NBC and Universal Television, which produces the series, said they were “terribly saddened and shocked to learn that one of their crew members has been the victim of a crime and has died.”

“We are working with local police as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time,” the statement reads.

“Law & Order: Organized Crime” concluded its second season in May.
