Law reserving vacancies for women in security contests is passed

This Tuesday (15th), in a symbolic vote, the plenary of the Chamber approved a project that reserves at least 20% of the vacancies offered in public tenders in the area of ​​public security for women. The text goes to the Federal Senate.

Authored by deputy Elcione Barbalho (MDB-PA), the opinion creates the National Policy for Valuing Women in the Public Security Area, which will be regulated by the Executive.

Among the guidelines that must be followed are: the publicity and publication expressed in the notices about the expected reservation of vacancies, the promotion of the increase of maternity leave to at least 180 days and the promotion of equity in the occupation of managerial positions.

In addition, it is mandatory to carry out research, studies and statistics on the profile of female civil servants and the occupation of positions, the promotion of a strategy to combat harassment and violence against women in the work environment and the mandatory inclusion content related to equality between men and women in training courses.

The government advised against voting, as did Novo, which featured a highlight (suggestion to change the matter) to remove the device that provides for the reservation of vacancies for women.
