A lawyer who previously defended the organizer of a large financial pyramid believes that the founder of the FTX crypto exchange, justifying himself to the community, only aggravates his position.
According to Ira Sorkin, the attorney who represented Bernie Madoff in court, Sam Bankman-Fried’s statements will not change the public’s view that he was behind the FTX crash:
“The only people who will listen to what you have to say are regulators and prosecutors.”
Ira Sorkin believes that the founder of FTX released a series of statements about his involvement in the collapse of FTX, likely against the advice of his lawyers.
“Sometimes clients think they are smarter than their lawyers. This guy is 30 years old and no smarter than his lawyers. Lawyers have to tell him every five minutes to shut up. But sometimes clients do not obey, ”the lawyer complained.
Last month, Bankman-Fried admitted to ineffective oversight of client assets. The businessman assured everyone of his innocence, denied any wrongdoing and assured that the collapse of the exchange took him by surprise.
