A lawyer wrote Racist offenses against a magistrate in a process that runs in the court of Rio de Janeiro. The case occurred after the judge rejected a defender’s request in a case.

“The Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro repudiates the racist demonstrations directed to magistrate Helenice Rangel, holder of the 3rd Civil Court of Campos dos Goytacazes.
The statements made by lawyer José Francisco Abud are incompatible with the respect required in institutional relations and configure evident violation of the ethical and legal principles that govern legal activity.
Such behavior, in addition to directly achieving the magistrate’s personal and professional honor, represents a serious affront to human dignity and the democratic exercise of judicial function.
The Court sympathizes with Judge Helenice Rangel and informs that he sent the case to the Public Prosecution Service and the Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro Section (OAB/RJ), for strict investigation of responsibilities in the criminal and disciplinary spheres.
Permanent commitment against any form of discrimination or prejudice is reiterated, especially racism, a criminal practice that must be widely repudiated and fought throughout society. ”
The case was referred to the Prosecution (MPRJ) and Brazilian Bar Association (OAB/RJ) . The measure aims to investigate the responsibilities of the lawyer in the criminal and disciplinary spheres.
