Senator Marcelo Castro (MDB-PI), rapporteur for the 2023 Union Budget, said in an interview with CNN this Monday (11) that the Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) “must be approved with imposition of the rapporteur’s amendments” .
About two weeks ago, the rapporteur of the Budget Guidelines Law, Senator Marcos do Val (Podes-ES), turned the rapporteur’s amendments into a maneuver to ensure that the resources remain with the Legislature from 2023.
“I was against the mandatory implementation of these amendments. We already have the individual ones, which became mandatory in 2015 and the bench ones, made mandatory between 2019 and 2020. The rapporteur’s amendments should continue as they are, that is, authoritative”, said Castro.
When asked about the approval of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) on Benefits – which provides for a package of R$ 41.25 billion in aid outside the spending ceiling -, Castro said that the PEC is “electoral”.
However, Castro claimed that “no person who has political and economic sensitivity could vote against the increase in Auxílio Brasil from R$400 to R$600”.
The senator also argued that “the benefits should be extended indefinitely and not just until December 31.”
