In this Monday’s edition (27) of the Medical Correspondent chart, of Novo Dia, neurosurgeon Fernando Gomes explained how it is possible to identify and treat tendonitis.
According to the neurosurgeon, the discomfort indicates an inflammation in the region, which can be caused by repetitive movements or addictions.
“If there is inflammation in the tendon, the response we see most is discomfort and pain. Often repetitive motion or a vicious position can cause this kind of discomfort.”
Fernando Gomes highlighted that tendonitis is a problem that can become recurrent for some people, and that treatment is multidisciplinary.
“It’s your body telling you that something is being done improperly. The treatment process itself involves a multidisciplinary team. You can use medications such as anti-inflammatory drugs, physiotherapy, acupuncture, pain relievers. It ends up being a multidisciplinary treatment, so you don’t have pain and to educate yourself.”
