Lebanon: Another collapse of part of the grain silos in the port of Beirut

A part of the grain silos damaged by the explosion that destroyed the port of Beirut two years ago collapsed today. Specifically, at least two other silos in the port collapsed, while a crowd of people and protesters had gathered at the site to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the drama.

What was left of the large silos began collapsing this week, with several collapsing by Sunday, and officials say more silos could collapse at any time.

Local media reported that four towers collapsed after being detached from the already damaged structure by the shock wave of the deadly explosion on August 4, 2020.

It is the second accident of its kind in four days, after part of the granaries collapsed on Sunday.
