Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry: Israel is ready to give the “green light” for a ceasefire

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib spoke of an imminent ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. “In principle, (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu has agreed and we as a government also agree,” Bou Habib told Italian broadcaster Rai. “The final decision rests with the Israeli cabinet,” the minister emphasized. According to Israeli media, the meeting of the Israeli security cabinet is underway to approve the 60-day ceasefire agreement in the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Asked if the ceasefire is absolutely certain, Bou Habib stressed: “Nobody can be absolutely certain. You have to ask Mr. Netanyahu for this.” Lebanese media reported that a US-French communiqué would be issued tonight shortly after 10:00 pm announcing that a ceasefire had been reached in Lebanon.
