The technical director of the manufacturer of the hardware wallets Ledger Charles Guillemet said that the termination of support for the Nano S model, which was announced the day before, is associated with a limited volume of built -in memory of the device.

The LEDGEROS operating system installed on the wallet, together with the base applications for bitcoin, ether and tokens exchange, almost completely fills the available 320 KB memory. This creates obstacles to the addition of new functions, such as parallel operation of several applications, improved methods of confirming transaction and built-in swaps using the Uniswap platform and other decentralized protocols, the top manager explained.

The new functions have already become standard for modern crypto -cutters models – they make the user more convenient and enhance the level of safety, added to Guiim.

Despite the termination of support, the owners of the Nano S hardware wallets may continue to use the device for basic operations: sending and receiving cryptocurrency, restoration of access through Seed-Fraz. However, to work with new capabilities, a transition to more modern equipment will be required.

The Nano S model was represented in 2016 and over time gave way to improved versions – Nano S Plus and Nano X, and later – Stax and Flex devices that open users access to expanded functionality.

Earlier, Ledger presented an option called Recovery Key – a physical key that allows you to restore access to Stax and Flex models.
