The manufacturer of Ledger’s hardware cryptocurns presented an option called Recovery Key – a physical key that allows you to restore access to Stax and Flex models.

To restore access, it will be necessary to bring the key in the form of a smart card to the wallet and enter PIN-code. Communication is carried out through NFC-compound. Recovery Key can be used as an alternative or supplement to a standard SEEDFREA. Activation of the key is possible only with confirmation on the main device. He works offline and does not transmit data to third parties, the Ledger team assures.

Ledger emphasized that the new tool implements Secure Element technology, similar to the one used in the main devices of wallets. The source code of the device and the technical description are available on the portal Github. Sales of the physical key should begin in the near future, representatives of Ledger said.
