When LG announced its decision to wind down the smartphone business last year, it assured its customers that it would continue to provide software updates and service support for a period of time. The company has confirmed that flagship phones from 2019, including the G and V series phones, as well as the Velvet and Wing, will be eligible for three numbered operating system updates.
Luckily for those who own an LG phone, it looks like the company is intent on delivering on the promise. Last month, the Velvet became the company’s first phone to receive the Android 12 update, and now the company has announced which other phones will receive the software update this quarter.
The company has released a list of models that may receive updates in the second quarter of 2022. The mid-range models Q52, LG Velvet, and LG Wing will receive security updates, while the Q92 5G, V50 ThinQ, and V50S ThinQ will receive Android 12.
Notably, the LG V60 is missing from the list, but that’s presumably because the phone hasn’t been officially released in South Korea. The company has indicated that two phones, the LG Wing and Velvet, will also receive Android 13 sometime in the third quarter.
