Leica has made it clear that the Leitz Phone 1 is actually a renamed and slightly different outwardly Aquos R6. Named after the original Leica brand, the device echoes the legendary manufacturer’s cameras in design and comes complete with a magnetic circular lens cover. Instead of a leather back panel, the device has received a black matte glass panel, which is combined with a Leica silver metal case. The thickness of the device remained the same as that of the Sharp Aquos R6 – 9.5 mm, but the weight increased slightly – from 207 to 212 mm. You can protect the back with the included hard case.

According to the technical characteristics, Leitz Phone 1 almost completely repeats the Aquos R6, but the amount of flash memory has been doubled – from 128 to 256 GB. The microSD slot allows you to expand the storage up to 1TB. The Leitz Phone 1 runs Android 11 with a “predominantly monochrome” proprietary user interface.

Leitz Phone 1 is currently an exclusive product from Softbank in Japan and costs about $ 1,700. Acceptance of pre-orders will begin tomorrow, June 18th. There is no information on availability in other countries yet.
