Lenovo, ASUS, Acer and others introduce notebooks of the future at CES 2022

Along with the launch of new generation processors and graphics cards, CES 2022 was the stage for the presentation of notebooks that will hit the markets this year and beyond.

With computational advances, notebooks are even more compact, powerful and with more autonomy. See what’s new that some brands presented at the biggest technology fair in the world, which takes place annually in Las Vegas.

Lenovo

ThinkBook Plus Gen 3: The difference with this notebook is that, in addition to the 17.3-inch main screen, it also has an additional 8-inch screen positioned next to the keyboard to maximize productivity.

Windows 11 — Microsoft’s latest operating system that accompanies this model — is already prepared for the user to be able to use the small space in the most efficient way. Internally, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 has what is the latest in processing power offered by Intel and will be available in the US market in May and will cost $1,399 (R$7,988 in direct conversion).

Lenovo also launched the ThinkPad Z Series, an ecological line made of recyclable materials, both the notebook and its packaging and travel backpack; Yoga 9i Gen 7 with enhanced visual and sound experience, equipped with high-brightness screen that offers greater visibility in bright and dark scenes and immersive spatial sound; Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 e Legion 5 Gen 7 audience-oriented gamer with the latest graphics chip solutions from NVIDIA and AMD and high screen refresh rates, up to 240hz, allowing the consumer to benefit from a more fluid gaming experience compared to conventional screens.

For the corporate market, the company brought the ThinkPad X1 in versions Carbon Gen 10, Yoga Gen 7 e Nano Gen 2 with differentials in 5G mobile connectivity and WiFi 6E, security technologies such as biometric and iris reading and data encryption, among others, while maintaining unique features of each version.

ASUS

ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED: Entirely made of a flexible 17.3-inch touch-sensitive screen that can be folded in half. The model also comes with a physical keyboard with touchpad that connects via bluetooth. The price has not still been published.

ROG West Duo 16: As the name implies, the difference of this notebook aimed at games is that it has two screens. The main one is 16 inches and is made up of mini LEDs, a technology that allows greater control of individual luminosity in precise parts of the panel. The secondary, called the “screenpad”, is 14 inches long and works as an extension of the main screen and can be used in various ways, as a place to accommodate game maps and other indicators.

The Zephyrus Duo 16 will ship in four versions, all featuring the new AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX processor — AMD’s top-of-the-line processor — but with different graphics card options to better meet the needs of the target audience. Pricing and availability were not disclosed.

The company also revealed the Zenbook 14 OLED, ultra-thin model with 6.9 mm thickness and 1.39 kg of weight and screen with high fidelity color certified by Pantone, ideal for handling images; the lines Chromebook Flip CX5 e ExpertBook B5 series for basic use; TUF Gaming F15 e F17 e TUF Dash aimed at the gamer audience. All these lines received updates to internal components. Prices were also not disclosed.

MSI

MSI has updated its entire line of notebooks to offer greater graphics processing power, as most of its lineup is dedicated to gamers, but without other major changes.

The new generation of the line Stealth, equipped with the Core i9-12900H and RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, offers up to 40% more processing power than the previous generation, making tasks complete faster, as well as running the most demanding games on the market without any type of problem. The Stealth GS77 model has a 17-inch screen while the GS66 will be sold in a 15.6-inch size, both in versions with different resolutions and high screen refresh rates, reaching 360 Hz.

The other lines Raider, Vector, Pulse, Crosshair, Katana e Creator also had updated internal components to offer greater processing power and compete with other brands, with emphasis on the Crosshair line that will offer a customized chassis version with the theme of the new Rainbow Six Extraction game from Ubisoft. Prices start at $1,099 (BRL 6,275 in direct conversion) on Katana models and go up to $3,249 (BRL 18,552 in direct conversion) on Creator models.

Acer

Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition: In partnership with National Geographic, the notebook aims to draw attention to conscientious consumption and sustainability. The packaging is 85% recycled cardboard, without plastic wrapping and low density polyethylene foam.

The notebook itself is equipped with an 11th generation Intel processor and enhanced connectivity with the new WiFi 6 technology, ideal for basic home use or corporate environments. The company also updated its gamer line. Nitro 5, Predator Helios 300 e Acer Predator Triton 500 SE with new internal components, differentiating the Predator Triton 500 SE by offering a high luminosity screen and superior color fidelity to other models, ideal for jobs that require a greater color gamut, such as image editing, for example.

TCL

Present in the manufacture of televisions, TCL took advantage of CES 2022 to make its entry into the notebook market. The TCL Book 14 Go is the company’s bet to compete in the entry-level notebook market with affordable prices and suitable for basic everyday use. With basic features like a standard 14.1-inch screen and HD resolution, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the difference is due to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c processor.

Unlike conventional processors from Intel and AMD equipped in notebooks and desktops, Snapdragon processors in ARM architecture are extremely energy efficient, allowing devices to have longer battery life. Without release information, the suggested price is $349 ($1,993 in direct conversion).

Dell

Alienware M15 R7 e M17 R5: Certified by the AMD Advantage program — quality control created by AMD that guarantees an optimized user experience by using components approved by the company — the two new models specifically for the consumption of games are 100% equipped with the latest AMD technologies, the line of processors Ryzen 6000 and RX 6000M graphics cards, although in the future will also be marketed with parts of Intel and NVIDIA.

Dell also announced the Alienware x14, the thinnest 14-inch model on the market at 14.5 mm thick weighing up to 1.84 kg, Alienware x15 R2 being the thinnest 15.6 inch model ever designed at 16.3 mm thick and weighing 2.3 kg and the Alienware x17 R2 also as the thinnest 17.3-inch notebook ever designed.

Even with no expected release date, all will be marketed in various configurations of internal components such as processor, graphics, memory, storage and screen to compete in various price categories, starting at $1,799 (BRL 10,272 in direct conversion) for the x14 , $2,199 (R$12,556 in direct conversion) for the x15 R2 and $2,299 (R$13,127 in direct conversion) for the x17 R2.
