Leo Gassman rescues an American girl victim of violence: “I’ll never forget her screams”

Singer Leo Gassman rescued a 30-year-old American victim of an assault. The artist, son of Alessandro and grandson of Vittorio, heard the screams and cries of the American girl who has lived in the capital since her university days. He was at the weekend in the Portonaccio district, a suburb to the east of Rome full of clubs when, around four in the morning, he noticed the girl after spending the evening in the area.

So he approached her and listened to her story: the young woman said she had just been harassed. After the meeting with Gassman, she was accompanied to the Policlinico Umberto I hospital.

The artist made a series of stories on Instagram: «Last night some passers-by and I lent help to an American girl who had just before been abused by a young man of French origin. As soon as I heard the screams I approached and asked a couple of guys who were passing by, but the Frenchman had already fled. We called the police and an ambulance took the girl away for investigation. If you happen to run into such a situation, never back down. As human beings we have a duty to help our brothers and sisters if they are in difficulty, even if it is scary. It hurts my heart to think how far man can get so low. However, I trust in humanity and in the love that belongs to each of us. Don’t be afraid to report or ask for help. You are NOT alone. Let’s make this world a better place. I will never forget the screams of this girl screaming for help. I want to dedicate my life to protect these people. Each of us can make a difference whatever his profession / passion is. Whoever makes a mistake must be punished ».

On Instagram, the singer commented on the messages received in the past few hours from fans: «Many of you are writing to me about what happened the other night. I’m not a hero, I only did what was right. Many of you have stories to tell similar to the one I have lived. Don’t be afraid, you are not alone.
Helping others should be a priority for every human being. If you happen to spot a girl or a boy in trouble on the street, don’t turn your back on him. Do not wait for the act to manifest, block it from being born. There is so much evil in this world but this is because beautiful things are fragile and must be treated day after day. There are so many good people on this planet … let’s value them, let’s protect them. Together we can make a difference. The future is in our hands we can choose to indulge the darkness or live in search of a light. That light can be in each of us and is nurtured whenever we act right.
I take this opportunity to wish all the mothers who sacrifice us and guide us towards that wonderful journey that we call “life”. You are precious, strong, unparalleled. Thanks for giving us life. Always on your side. I love you, Leo. “
