Lepen is accused of embezzling public money

Shortly before the second round of the presidential elections in France, Marin Le Pen and her relatives are accused of embezzling more than 600,000 euros in the period 2004-2017.

This is not the first time that Europe has demanded an account from Marin Le Pen, but this time he is accused at the same time of Father Le Pen and her ex-partner Louis Alio, mayor of Perpignan.

They are accused of embezzling 617,000 euros in total. Apparently they “ate it together”, and Marin has 137,000 for the period 2004-2017, while he was an MEP. This is European money with the suspicion that they went to the party.

The issue was brought to light by the European Anti-Fraud Office, which launched the investigation in 2016. It sent its report to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office on 11 March.

A breath before the second round of the presidential election

Marin Lepen and her associates are accused of using European money “for national political purposes, for personal expenses or other, for the benefit of commercial companies affiliated with the” National Alarm “party and the far-right” Europe of Nations and Freedoms “parliamentary group ( ENL).

The issue became more widely known the day before yesterday, with the publication of the journalistic website Mediapart, a week before the final election.

“You see! You see that this is an attempt by Europe to intervene in the presidential campaign. But the French will not be fooled,” reacted Jordan Bardella, number two of the National Alarm. He said the party was unaware of the investigation and promised that legal action would be taken to investigate the source of the leak to Mediapart.
