The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said during an event this Tuesday (7) that he intends to “take the grenade out of the pocket” of civil servants to negotiate a salary adjustment for the category.
The statement refers to the speech of former Minister of Economy Paulo Guedes, who said in 2020 that the government had put “the grenade in the enemy’s pocket” by approving, during the pandemic, a salary freeze for civil service careers.
“I’m a state public servant, I’m a professor at the University of São Paulo, and I know what it’s like to spend years without any kind of assistance, without any kind of consideration. Worse than that, it is being demonized by those who should be taking care of society and those who take care of society. So, the objective is to get the grenade out of your pockets, ”he said.
The former mayor of São Paulo, now in charge of the Treasury, participated this morning in the reopening of the National Permanent Negotiation Table, promoted by the Ministry of Management and Innovation, which brought together civil service unions in search of a salary readjustment for servers.
“We are going to build this table, this dialogue will be permanent”, concluded the minister, before leaving the event to participate in the meeting of Caixa’s service network managers.
Ministers Rui Costa, Simone Tebet, Carlos Lupi, Esther Dweck and Luiz Marinho also participated in the permanent negotiating table this morning.
