Let’s save swimming pools: the appeal of Italian sportsmen

The hashtag is #salviamolepiscine. The goal is clear: reopen the Italian swimming pools as soon as possible, those covered, those for the training of athletes, those for the strokes of all swimmers. Federnuoto launched the initiative. He asks everyone to post something blue at 6pm today to coincide with the first European swimming competitions.

The swimming pool greats have already re-launched the invitation from Federica Pellegrini that without her first swimming pool she would not have made it to five Olympics.

«Our world is suffering, the newest generations and the whole“ amateur ”sector (let’s say this even if I am also considered an amateur athlete by law) have been at a standstill for almost a year and obviously the plants suffer as a result. WE ALL STARTED FROM OUR SMALL COUNTRY POOL !! And this must continue to exist to preserve the new generation of swimmers !! “

Gregorio Paltrinieri he remembered putting the third gold medal around his neck at the European cross-country championships. “It has been closed for 15 months now and it’s a stretch. All of us champions started from very small realities and then reached these levels. I think if I had been taken out of the pool as a child I would have gone mad. I also attach an important social value to what I do and children have been deprived of something important for two seasons now. Knowing how to swim can be worth your life. I dedicate this medal to them ».

Don’t have the swimming pool open means depriving children of sport, coaches and managers of work, the sporting movement of possible future champions.

The president of Federnuoto explains this Paolo Barelli: “We have lost a year of swimming lessons, a year of children who may have decided to devote themselves to another sport, one year of teaching swimming, which is absurd to underestimate in a country like Italy that has over 7500 kilometers of coastline without considering the lake and river spaces. We have lost champions of the future; maybe if the parents of Federica Pellegrini and Gregorio Paltrinieri had found closed they would have directed them to another sport rather than letting them laze ».
