Lula and Bolsonaro had their assets reduced from 2018 to 2022, while Ciro’s increased
The assets of presidential candidates Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL) fell from 2018 to 2022, considering the inflation of that period.
Among this year’s presidential candidates who also contested the 2018 election, Ciro Gomes (PDT) is the one who, so far, has had the largest increase in equity: 29.1%.
The data are contained in the declaration of assets that the candidates present to the Electoral Court and are made available on DivulgaCandContas (platform provided by the Superior Electoral Court).
In 2018, Lula declared a net worth of BRL 7.9 million – which, in values corrected by the IPCA index, which measures inflation, would be equivalent to something close to BRL 10.1 million today. This year, the former president declared assets totaling R$ 7.4 million: a drop of 7.6% in nominal values and 36% in values adjusted for inflation.
