Lewandowski accepts government response on childhood vaccination

Minister Ricardo Lewandowski, of the Federal Supreme Court, declared that there was a “loss of object” of the requests filed by the opposition to demand vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years against Covid-19, after the government confirmed that it will start immunization.

Lewandowski had stipulated a deadline until this Wednesday (5) for the government to manifest itself on the need and result of the consultation and the open public hearing to discuss childhood vaccination in the country. Despite the STF protocol pointing out that the answers arrived minutes before the end of the day, the government spoke directly to Minister Lewandowski before the press conference in which he publicly announced the vaccination schedule.

The request had been filed within opposition actions. There is an Allegation of Non-compliance with Fundamental Precepts (ADPF) in which PT, PCdoB, PSOL, PSB and Citizenship question the government’s role in the vaccination process against the coronavirus in the country. The action is broad and since the end of 2020 it has been updated with calls to pressure the government to adopt measures against the coronavirus.

There was also the same request proposed in another initiative of the Sustainability Network. Minister Lewandowski manifested himself in both.
