Fragility spares no one, not even the great champions: Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes driver baronet, had the courage to tell it. He did it with an Instagram story where he talked about the complex period that we are all experiencing but also of what he lived, confessing to the whole world that he had to deal with mental health problems.
“It’s already a very tough year given everything that’s happening around us and some days it’s hard to stay positive,” wrote Lewis Hamilton. “I have long struggled as far as my mental and emotional health are concerned. Moving forward is a constant effort, but we must keep fighting, because there is so much to do and to achieve. I am writing to tell you that it’s okay to feel the way it feels, and know that you are not alone and that we will make it. A friend reminded me today that you can be so powerful that you can do whatever you put in your head. We can all do it, let us remember to live with gratitude another day to be resurrected. I send you love and light“.
A moving Story, with which the seven-time world champion wanted to share with his followers an intimate malaise, probably determined by the complex period he is experiencing on the circuits, and in particular after the last defeat suffered on the last lap of the Abu Dhabi GP on 12 December in favor of Max Verstappen who cost him the world title. A very hard defeat after which he even seemed to want to abandon the races forever. So, thankfully, it wasn’t.
