Korean tech company LG has announced a breakthrough in its 6G technology research. The report says the company has successfully demonstrated 6G data transmission technology using the terahertz spectrum. LG works with one of Europe’s leading research firms, Berlin-based Fraunhoffer-Gesellschaft.
LG says this achievement was achieved last week in Berlin, Germany, when the company was successfully transmitting data in open space over a distance of 100 meters. The company has also developed a new power amplifier with Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft that will help provide stable 6G signals in the terahertz spectrum. According to LG, the power amplifier can deliver a maximum output of 15 dBm to achieve stable communications in the 155-175 GHz range.
In addition, LG has also developed adaptive beamforming and high gain antenna switching technologies for 6G communications. Product innovation will drive 6G networking research.
Research into next-generation wireless technologies is a long way off. Huawei also announced progress in research on 6G technology. The commercialization of 6G technology is expected to take place in 2029, and negotiations on standardization will begin by 2025.
