LG has announced that the first commercial 6G network will be available in 2029. LG claims 6G will provide faster data transfer speeds. In addition, 6G will also offer lower network latency and higher reliability than 5G. The new network will be able to update the concept of the Internet of Everything (IoT) and offer users better connectivity.
LG established a 6G research center with the Korea Advanced Technology Institute (KAIST) in 2019 and last year signed an agreement with the Korea Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) to jointly conduct research on 6G technology.

LG reportedly has an agreement with Keysight, a US-based electronic test and measurement company. Keysight is a major supplier of 6 GHz terahertz test equipment. The company supplies equipment to LG and the 6G research center of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology.
According to the cooperation agreement, the three parties will cooperate on the development of technologies related to the terahertz range, which is a key frequency range for 6G communications. The 6G research stage is planned to be completed by 2024, after which preparations will begin for the launch of test, and then commercial networks.
The commercialization of 5G networks began in 2019, but the full rollout of 5G networks did not begin until 2020.
