'LGBTQI+ people face less discrimination but more violence than 3 years ago' says EU

“They face less discrimination, but more physical or sexual attacks compared to three years ago” finds the European Union's Fundamental Rights Agency (Fundamental Rights Agency), focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and the queer members of the LGBTI+ community. The poll, released today Tuesday 5/14 and conducted online among a sample of more than 100,000 people who self-identify as members of the LGBTI+ community, was conducted in June, July and August 2023 and found only small, overall, changes compared to the previous poll of this type three years earlier, the Agency says in the report with its findings published today. “More LGBTI+ people in Europe are open about their identity today. But at the same time, they face more violence, harassment and intimidation than before,” the Vienna-based FRA said in a statement.
