LGBTQIA+ Parade starts in SP and returns to the streets after two years; see photos

The Pride Parade LGBTQIA+ started this Sunday (19), with the expectation of bringing together about 3 million people on Avenida Paulista, in the city of Sao Paulo . The event will feature concerts and speeches throughout the afternoon, divided into 19 electric trios.

The event is in its 26th edition, and resumed its face-to-face format after two years. In 2020 and 2021, the stop took place only in a virtual way, with lives, due to the Covid-19 pandemic .

In 2019, the last year before the pandemic, the LGBTQIA+ Parade generated BRL 403 million in the city’s economy, and the event is one of the most important for the economy of the capital of São Paulo.

From 2017 to 2019, the number of people who do not live in the capital of São Paulo, but traveled only to participate in the party reached 43.4% of the total. only with the tourism the movement was R$ 313 million three years ago.

The organization of the parade hopes to move the São Paulo economy even further in 2022. According to Renato Viterbo, vice president of the São Paulo LGBT Parade Association, “about R$500 to 600 million” should be injected into São Paulo’s economy this week. of LGBTQIA+ Pride .

This year’s theme is “Vote with pride – for a policy that represents”, and the event seeks to reaffirm the commitment to the fight against any type of discrimination, in addition to promoting respect for diversity and the construction of affirmative policies for the LGBTQIA+ population. .

The program will feature concerts by artists such as Pablo Vittar , Luisa Sonza , Lexa , liner and ludmilla . The concentration of the public started at 10 am at the time of 1600 on Avenida Paulista, towards Dr. Arnaldo, the event officially started at 12:00. The first of the 19 electric trios should start the route to Franklin Roosevelt Square at 12:00.
