Korean tech giant LG has received a new patent for a new retractable TV. The patent application was filed with the State Intellectual Property Office of China on September 1, 2020 and was approved on February 26, 2021.

Resource LetsGoDigital has released a selection of renders showing a TV with a retractable screen, as well as a base in which it can hide. A feature of this model is a hole in the base, on which part of the screen will be displayed when folded. For example, when the user is listening to music, the playback controls will be displayed there. You can also display the date, time, weather forecast and other information there.
The TV resembles the LG Signature R model, which was unveiled at CES 2019 but only went on sale in Korea last October for about $ 87,000. This TV has a 65-inch flexible OLED panel that rolls up into a tube.

The new model should be equipped with a conventional inflexible screen, which should significantly reduce its price.
