Libero De Rienzo, the protagonist of “I quit when I want” leaves us at just 44 years old

Two days ago he published on Instagram the photo of the cigarette butts that he had lit to fight the heat and today, July 16, hundreds of messages arrive on that same post asking how it is possible that Libero De Rienzo he left so suddenly, at the age of 44. The Neapolitan actor, born in 1977, was, in fact, found dead in his home in Rome, where he had lived for two years, perhaps struck down by a heart attack. Married to costume designer Marcella Mosca, father of two children aged 6 and 2, De Rienzo, son of Fiore De Rienzo, began his career in cinema very early, winning the David di Donatello in 2002 for the role Bart in Santa Maradona by Marco Ponti.

We recently also saw it in It never rains in Tor Bella Monaca, directorial debut by Marco Bocci, and in the delicious I change everything!, Mario Chiesa’s film with Valentina Lodovini available on Prime Video.

In his career, which ended too soon, Libero De Rienzo, a shy man who often didn’t give up on cigarettes on the red carpet to dampen the tension, was also a screenwriter and director in the footsteps of his father, Citto Maselli’s historic assistant director. Libero has won 2 David di Donatello – one in 2002 and the other in 2006 for Fortpàsc by Marco Risi -: the date of the funeral has not yet been announced, but it is certain that his body will be interred in Irpinia, next to that of his mother.
