Lieutenant General David Zini appoints a new head of Sin Beth by Prime Minister Netanyahu

Lieutenant General David Zini chose Benjamin Netanyahu to lead Sin Beth (Israel’s Internal Security Service), the Israeli prime minister’s office announced today. Sin Beth’s leader Ronen Bar announced his resignation last month, clarifying that he would leave his post on June 15, six weeks after Netanyahu demanded his removal. Yesterday Wednesday, Attorney General Gali Baarav-Miara banned Prime Minister Netanyahu from appointing a new leader in Sin Bett, after the Supreme Court ruled that the government’s ruling was illegal. Defying the criticism of the Attorney General, Netanyahu defended his choice to remove today’s Sin Beth chief, who accuses him of failing to prevent Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7th.
