Storms begin to hit the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina, in the United States this Friday (30), when Hurricane Ian advances towards the North Atlantic Ocean.
The dangerous storm system was about 235 kilometers south-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina, as of 5:00 a.m. on Friday, the National Hurricane Center said in an update.
Moving north-northeast at about 14 km/h, it is expected that Ian pick up speed on Friday morning, according to the update.
North Carolina and South Carolina are expected to be hit by “a life-threatening storm and hurricane conditions” as the storm approaches this afternoon, the hurricane center said.
Flood rains will also likely begin to drench the Carolinas and Southern Virginia, according to the forecast.
