Light ended the fourth quarter of 2021 with consolidated net income of R$72.5 million, which represents a drop of 83.29% compared to the same period in 2020.
Year-to-date, the company’s net income totaled R$397.9 million, down 42.5% from the R$433.9 million recorded in 2020.
According to the company, the reduction is due to the results presented by Distribuidora and Geradora, which recorded a profit of R$ 46.3 million and R$ 38.1 million, respectively, in the fourth quarter of 2021, against a profit of R$ 239. .7 million and R$ 202.5 million registered in the same period of 2020.
Adjusted Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) totaled R$690.2 million, down 46.8% compared to the same period in 2020.
In the 12 months of the year, Light’s Ebitda totaled R$1.909 billion, a reduction of 23.5% over 2020.
Between October and December, net operating revenue decreased 7.7% on the same basis of comparison and totaled R$ 3.771 billion.
In 2021, the company’s revenue was R$ 13.930 billion, an increase of 13.4% compared to 2020.
The financial result was negative by BRL 336.8 million, compared to a negative financial result of BRL 400.7 million in the same period in 2020.
According to the company, the improvement is explained by the lack of updating the GSF, whose liability balance was settled in April 2021, despite the increase in gross debt and the cost linked to it due to the higher CDI and IPCA, in addition to the loss with the marking to market of swap operations due to the increase in the future curve of the CDI.
In the fourth quarter of 2021, the company’s investments totaled BRL 543.4 million, up 76.0% on an annual basis.

Light’s total energy market in the fourth quarter was 6,131 gigawatt-hours (GWh), a decrease of 7.9% compared to the same period in 2020. Of this total, consumption in the captive market was 3,762 GWh and in the use of network of 2,369 GWh, down 14.65% and up 5.42% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020, respectively.
In the residential class, energy consumption was 1,886 GWh, down 13.88%, while in the commercial class it was 1,745 GWh, down 6.2%.
The industrial market, including captive and free customers, registered a slight decrease of 0.2%, to 1,325 GWh. The Others class was responsible for the consumption of 997 megawatts (MW), an increase of 1.7%.
Losses in Light’s concession area reached 27.29% in the fourth quarter of 2021, compared to 26.81% recorded in the same period of 2020.
