A serious incident occurred on Saturday during the Chichon International Air Festival in Spain, when F18 F18 Superhornet reportedly reported loss of power or control. A source of disruption for the public and the organizers, the event was addressed immediately thanks to the excellent calmness and abilities of the pilot, captain Botana. According to testimonies, during impressive maneuvering at low height, the aircraft may have collided with a bird – probably a large bird in the area – causing temporary malfunction. Bird blows (also known as Bird Strikes) are considered particularly dangerous to air demonstrations, as they can lead to serious lesions on engines or critical aircraft systems. Captain Botana, with calm and excellent technique, performed corrective maneuvers and managed to restore full control of the F18 in a matter of seconds, preventing the worst in the eyes of thousands of spectators.
