Lightning strikes where Bolsonarist protesters are in Brasilia and leaves injured

Four people were injured this Sunday (18) in Brasilia because of a lightning storm that hit the federal capital. These people were in the place where, for weeks, a demonstration by supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has been taking place.

One of the victims, a 45-year-old woman, had to be assisted by the Federal District Military Fire Brigade and was referred to the IHBB (Instituto Hospital de Base de Brasília).

According to information from the Fire Department, the incident took place at Praça dos Cristais, which is in front of the Army headquarters in Brasilia. Three vehicles and 11 agents went to the scene to help the injured, who were in a tent. The woman who was injured had numbness in her legs, burning in her right arm, hypertension and altered vital signs. The corporation says that after the rescue, she was “conscious, oriented and stable”.

Bolsonarist demonstrators have been in front of the Army barracks since the end of the second round of elections, when PT Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was declared the winner of the opposition against Bolsonaro. Dissatisfied with the result, they began to camp on the spot. Some protesters ask that the military take some action against Lula’s inauguration, for example.
