Like Simone and Simaria, remember country duos who have already broken partnerships

Over the generations, the countryside it underwent several changes from the viola fashion to more modern versions of the genre we know today. What has not changed, however, is the formation of some doubles striking and with hits that have become timeless.

From Chitãozinho and Xororó to Jorge and Mateus, many successful partnerships were built and remain strong to this day. However, many are not so lucky. Some end up at the beginning, but some reach stardom, accumulate years on the road and, even so, cannot resist the setbacks.

Disagreements on stage, personal problems and controversies. There were many reasons that led highly prestigious duos on the national scene to break up professionally, temporarily or permanently.

One of the most recent cases is the duo Simone and Simaria . In August 2022, they announced the end of their partnership, and Simone chose to pursue a solo career. With several rumors surrounding their coexistence, the sisters are constantly questioned on the networks about the subject.

Recently, for example, Simaria revealed whether she still maintains contact with her sister Simone. Due to few public interactions between them since the breakup, a fan asked her: “Don't you talk to your sister, Simone?”

Simaria then wrote: “Yes, I will, Bilú”. The subject has also been mentioned by Simone Mendes on social media, who gave the same response to her followers. Renowned names in country music and the country duo Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano they also generate curiosity among the public due to few shows together.

Remember country duos who have already announced their separation:

Simone and Simaria

Shortly before the separation of the duo Simone and Simaria, in August 2022, fans of the “colleagues” were already speculating about possible disagreements between them. Denying rumors of an alleged fight, both have already highlighted that they remain in contact, and Simone even explained the reason for the end of the partnership.

In an interview with Ruth Moreira, mother of Marília Mendonça, the singer revealed that she had a sincere conversation with her older sister and understood that her desire was to move away from the stage.

“[Ela] He decided to take a break, rest, look more at herself, at her children. Look and care. And I, as a sister, respected her wishes and decided to continue doing what has always moved me, which is singing. I've always loved singing. I decided to continue singing,” she said.

Since then, Simone Mendes has released several tracks that have gone viral on platforms. “Erro Gostoso”, for example, made the artist emerge as one of the main female voices in 2023, in addition to earning the singer several awards. Meetings with Simaria, however, became rare in the eyes of fans.

Victor and Leo

The end of the duo Victor and Leo was announced in 2018, after reports of domestic violence made by Victor Chaves' ex-wife. The previous year, Poliana Bagatini accused him of having assaulted her while she was pregnant. Victor was convicted in 2019.

Singer Leo, however, explained during an interview with Leo Dias that the reason for the breakup was not just linked to the complaint against Victor. “We were going on the road to suffer, both me and him. People don't know why we take a break. It wasn’t because of my brother’s mistake,” he began.

“Before that, we already had differences of opinion, about what we wanted on stage, what we wanted for the future, and people already felt that way. They saw Victor and Leo’s show and they were two people who thought differently”, said Leo.

However, after five years apart, the duo returned to the stage in March 2024. On that occasion, they recorded a new DVD remembering their greatest hits and presenting six new tracks.

The brothers known for songs like “Fada” have also been announced in some country festivals such as at the Rodeio Itu Festival in September, and as attractions of themed ships from other artists of the genre.

Bruno e Marrone

Another successful partnership that has already suffered a break was that of the duo Bruno and Marrone. Together for more than 35 years on stage, the artists announced a brief separation in 2011, after Marrone suffered a helicopter accident in May of that year.

Due to the trauma, the singer had to take a break from his concert routine, as he was unable to travel by air. When they participated in the program Domingão do Faustão (TV Globo) and announced the decision, Marrone explained himself.

“After the accident, I had to take some time off, but my schedule was quite busy. I talked to Bruno and we’re going to take a break,” he said. While he was away to treat panic attacks, Bruno continued to fulfill his show schedule. At the end of 2011, Marrone returned to perform alongside Bruno.

Edson and Hudson

Edson and Hudson have also broken up the duo, pursuing solo careers. In 2009, they presented a farewell tour to fans after becoming known for tracks such as “Foi Deus” and “24 Horas de Amor”.

The brothers resumed their partnership two years later, in 2011. However, Hudson's problems with drug addiction, for example, persisted throughout his career. In 2014, the countryman was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic to treat his drug addiction, where he remained for seven months.

During the covid-19 pandemic, Edson spent 13 days hospitalized in serious condition due to the disease. After ups and downs in each of their personal lives, the brothers dedicated themselves to a new DVD, recorded about a year ago.

“Foi Deus” featured names such as Chitãozinho and Xororó, Gusttavo Lima and Maiara and Maraisa. The work has 35 songs, including re-recordings and new tracks.

Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano

Known as one of the most renowned duos in country music, Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano are gradually decreasing their partnership on stage. This is because, during the covid-19 pandemic, the brothers had time to develop their solo projects.

While Luciano cultivated works in gospel music, Zezé released the album “Rústico”. Even so, they continue to perform as duos, for example, at country festivals such as the Festa do Peão de Barretos.

In August 2023, however, Zezé Di Camargo explained that the trend is to increasingly reduce the duo's concert schedule, so that both can play their solo projects.

“For me to maintain the number of Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano shows, plus my acoustic show, then I'm dead. He (Luciano) will also do his gospel stuff, which he really enjoys, and I think that, next year, we will reduce the duo's schedule a lot”, said the country singer in an interview with the podcast Pod ou Quá?.

Recently, Zezé announced its first themed ship for the end of the year, which will take place between the 16th and 19th of November 2024. With more than 30 years of career, the duo has released striking songs such as “É o Amor” and “Sonho de Love”.
