In an interview with CNN this Monday (21), the former president of the Central Bank (BC), Gustavo Loyola, commented that the choice of the Brazilian Ilan Goldfajn to preside over the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) was “appropriate”, both in relation to the profile technician, regarding previous experiences in political management.
Like Loyola, Goldfajn also headed BC.
More than that, the choice for Goldfajn, in Loyola’s view, can serve as an example for the choice of the next name at the head of the Ministry of Finance in the elected government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
“The main link between the election of Goldfajn and the nomination of Lula’s minister is the choice of people who have a technical profile and experience in government affairs,” he told Live CNN Brasil.
“The ideal name for the Ministry of Finance will be one that has the capacity to form a solid economic team, while at the same time being able to dialogue with Congress, since all the country’s major economic policies depend on it, such as the Transition PEC itself. .”
According to the former BC president, this demonstrates the importance of political dialogue between parliamentarians and economists who will be managing the portfolio.
