Liliana Segre invites Chiara Ferragni: “Come with me to the Shoah Memorial”

When it comes to talking to young people, no one is better than Chiara Ferragni And Fedez. For this the senator for life, Liliana Segre91 years old, interviewed by the newspaper the Republic he launched an invitation: «I would very much like to meet Chiara Ferragni and invite her to visit with me the Shoah Memorial. His example could bring many young people here ». According to the senator, in fact, at the Memorial of the Milanese piazza Safra, in which the Italian victims of the Holocaust are remembered, visitors “are still few, too few”. Segre is convinced that Ferragni and Fedez can make the Memorial known “To as many people as possible”.

Liliana Segre, daughter of a Jewish family, motherless, he was 13 years old on January 30, 1944 when, together with his father Alberto and 603 other people, he left platform 21 of the Milan Central Station, inside a train with sealed wagonsin the direction of Auschwitz concentration camp. On that train there were also grandparents Giuseppe and Olga, who on their arrival immediately ended up in the gas chamber. Liliana Segre was ultimately the only survivor of the family.

Today his mission is to testify, especially to young people, those facts, not without great suffering. On February 6, during a visit to Platform 21, he said: “I was 13, but even now that I’m 91 I still remember everything about that daylike having to answer a command in a language you don’t understand and become a number. That day I left my father’s sacred hand forever, which I never saw again“.

She is very worried by knowing that the younger ones know little of that period: «This pains me, when I have to remember what I experienced and what millions of Jews lived, condemned for the sole guilt of being born. If the young people don’t come, was it all in vain? If Chiara Ferragni came here with me, many teenagers would be interested in this topic and would come here to see what happened to me and to many others, including the many who have never returned from the journey towards horror “.

The appeal is therefore launched: “I saw that Chiara Ferragni engaged with her husband on various issues of social importance, she is certainly a woman who is also attentive to topics other than those concerning her work related to fashion. So why not? It would be interesting to meet her and maybe come here together, in front of this great writing “Indifference” that I wanted it to be placed at the entrance to the Memorial precisely because this is the problem to be solved today“.

The sensitivity of Chiara Ferragni and Fedez is known, starting with the fundraising promoted during the Covid emergency for the construction of new department of intensive care at the San Raffaele Hospital. For this reason in 2020 they also received the Ambrogino d’Oro, the highest city honor in Milan, awarded on the day of Sant’Ambrogio. Furthermore, Fedez has recently launched its own Foundation, the Fedez ETS, with charitable purposes.

Despite the numerous commitments, therefore, it is unlikely that Senator Liliana Segre’s invitation will remain unanswered by the most social couple in Italy.
