Lilibet Diana turns one year: the social wishes of the royal family

Today Lilibet Diana, the second child of Harry And Meghan Markleturns one year old. And in spite of the cold welcome given by William and Kate Middleton to the rebel dukes of Sussex during thanksgiving mass in St Paul, the dukes of Cambridge have dedicated social greetings to the small greeting card. They did the same Queen Elizabeth and the prince Charles. “Happy birthday to Lilibet, who turns one today,” read the almost identical messages shared on Twitter by the royals.

Despite the expectations of royal addicts, none of the greeting messages are accompanied by a new photo of the little girl that we have seen only once in these twelve months, in the Christmas card posted by the Sussexes in 2021. In the shot, made by Alexi Lubomirski, already author of some official photos of the couple, the little girl smiles in her mother Meghan’s arms while her older brother Archie plays with dad Harry.

In recent days it was said that Lilibet Diana would celebrate her first birthday with a small party in which her great-grandmother would also participate, the Queen Elizabeth. It seems that instead that the child was celebrated at Frogmore Cottage in private: there were only the parents and brother Archie. However The Queen would have met her granddaughter born in America immediately after the Trooping The Color, when the Sussex, according to what was revealed by the royal expert Omid Scobie durantand BBC Breakfast, would have participated in a private lunch at Buckingham Palace with senior members of Windsor house. Who dreamed of some tender shot of baby Sussex together with famous great-grandmother was disappointed. On the other hand, one year after their birth, the two Lilibets (finally) known.
