Lilibet “Lili” Diana: Best wishes from Kate, William and the rest of the royal family to Harry and Meghan

The announcement of the birth of Lilibet “Lili“ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, second child of Harry of England e Meghan Markle, and congratulations from the royal family were not long in coming.

“The Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted by the news of the birth of a daughter for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” reads a note joint spread by the palace, which was then followed by greetings via social media, published simultaneously.

“We are all delighted with the good news of little Lili’s arrival. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie “, wrote Kate and William, “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of little Lilibet Diana, we wish them all the best in this special moment”, the message of Carlo and Camilla.

The child, came into the world last June 4 in Santa Barbara, she is the eleventh great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth, but the only one who pays homage to her in the name. Lilibet, in fact, is the nickname with which the sovereign was called in the family as a child: she had created it herself, because when she was very young she had difficulty in pronouncing Elizabeth. Hence the custom of calling her Lilibet even as an adult, although few had the honor of still being able to do so. The last was her husband Filippo. Not surprisingly, the sovereign signed Lilibet in the last message to the prince, the one placed on his coffin on the day of the funeral.

Elizabeth, on the other hand, in the family there are numerous, although the name has always been chosen as second or third. Zara Phillips, Lady Louise Windsor, Beatrice of York, Lena Tindall, Isla Phillips and Charlotte of Cambridge have it. A choice full of love and respect for the sovereign, the one made by Harry and Meghan, even if many accuse them of exploiting their daughter after months of throwing mud on the royal family. With Elizabeth II, however, we must be honest, relations in recent months have always been friendly, there has been no lack of video calls and phone calls, and things are probably less dramatic than imagined.

And then the dukes chose Diana, the name of Harry’s beloved mother, who would have celebrated 60 years next July. The queen and Lady D, always distant, thus found themselves united in the name of a new life. For those who believe in destiny, it could also be a sign.
