THE Israeli army announced the conduct of limited-scale ground operations during the night inside the Gaza Strip against Palestinian militants and in search of hostages.
Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Haggari said the Israeli airstrikes were targeting concentrations of Hamas forces that were setting up ambushes in the face of a possible larger-scale Israeli incursion into the Palestinian enclave.
The military spokesman also announced during today’s televised briefing that it has been confirmed that 222 people were kidnapped on October 7 during the Hamas attack on Israel and are being held hostage.
The Israeli military is overseeing the transfer of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip to ensure it does not fall into the hands of Hamas, an Israeli military spokesman said, according to Reuters and the Athenian Agency.
