In an event held on Tuesday (4), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), said that the future line 6-orange of the subway should start operating partially from next year.
“Trains start to arrive this year, so we can start testing next year. October next year we want to operate from Brasilândia until at least Sesc Pompei station or Perdizes. And in 2027, deliver the line completely completed to São Joaquim, ”said Tarcisio.
According to the governor, the work is the largest infrastructure and mobility project in progress in Latin America, with a cost close to $ 19 billion.
Tarcisio was on Tuesday morning at an event that celebrated the conclusion of the construction of a northern stretch tunnel of Line 6. He was next to the mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB).
The future line 6-orange line of the subway will connect to Brasilândia, in the north of São Paulo, with São Joaquim station, in the central region of São Paulo. The extension is expected to have 15 stations and make connections with 1-blue lines and 4-yellow subway and 7-Ruby of the Paulista Metropolitan Train Company (CPTM).

The first stretch will be between Brasilândia and Perdizes while the second will go to São Joaquim.
“With 15.3 km, the 6-orange subway line will reduce to 23 minutes a route that is made today by the bus population by about 1h30. The line is expected to carry more than 630,000 passengers a day, ”says the São Paulo government.
