Linkin Park: Chester Bennington’s mother reveals she feels “betrayed”

Susan Eubanks mother of the vocalist Chester Bennington spoke in an interview about feeling “betrayed” by the band’s new lineup. Earlier this month, the group announced Emily Armstrong as the band’s new vocalist alongside Mike Shinoda. The news generated controversy among fans.

Eubanks explained that she felt betrayed mainly because she was not told about the group’s return, having been on hiatus since Chester’s death in 2017.

“I feel betrayed. They told me that if they were going to do anything, they would let me know. They didn’t, and they probably knew I wouldn’t be very happy. I’m very upset about this.”

“I feel like they’re trying really hard to erase the past. They’re playing songs that Chester sang. And I don’t know how the fans are reacting, but I know how I reacted. And having [Armstrong] singing my son’s songs is painful.”

Susan points out that not even Chester Bennington’s widow was notified: “They said they would let the family know if they were going to get together. They didn’t. [A primeira esposa de Bennington] Samantha and [o filho] Draven didn’t know until it was told to the world. It was the same for me and it hurt.”
