The president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), stated, in statements sent to the Supreme Court (STF) this Tuesday (9), that the court should not interfere in matters that concern Congress, such as voting of the PEC of Precatório.
The demonstrations took place in actions filed by the PDT, opposition deputies to the government and deputy Rodrigo Maia (no RJ-party).
Lira stated that the actions presented to the STF “deal with issues that are merely internal to the House, and the questions must be resolved by the Parliament itself, as it is an internal matter”.
The president of the Chamber alleges that the actions are based “exclusively on the interpretation of regulatory provisions” of the House and that they are not subject to “judicial control”.
“Furthermore, it is worth remembering that, as well as the Legislative Power, the other Powers also had to edit norms, in order to enable their own operation during the emergency situation. [sic], it is up to each of these Powers to dispose of the issue internally”, argues Lira.
The president of the Chamber asks that the STF not comply with any of the three writs of mandamus filed against the vote of the PEC dos Precatórios.
