The actress Lisa Kudrow, 60 has “celebrated” the memory of Matthew Perry in a special way: by watching old episodes of “Friends” .
The artist — who played Phoebe Buffay on the acclaimed comedy series — revealed that, for years, she avoided rewatching the show because she found it “too embarrassing” to watch herself. However, the actor’s death, aged 54, last October motivated her to marathon the series as a form of tribute to her friend and co-star.
“Honestly, I couldn’t watch it because it’s so embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I do it because of Matthew, then it’s okay,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “And it’s just to celebrate how hilarious he was — and that’s what I want to remember [sobre ele]”, continued.
Last month, the final episode of “Friends” marked 20 years since its original airing, and despite the passage of time, Lisa said she was still “blown away” by how funny her castmates were.
“I’ve been laughing out loud, everyone is hilarious. I’m impressed by Courteney Cox. I’m impressed by Jen [Aniston]. Matthew, of course, is uniquely hilarious. No one has ever had that cadence or comic rhythm before him,” he said. “Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer is hilarious. Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done myself,” he confessed.
For the star, this is her own personal way of celebrating the series’ milestones and Perry’s memory. “So yeah, I mean, this is my own way of celebrating [os aniversários], just watching. But it’s embarrassing. At home, if someone comes into the room and I’m watching ‘Friends,’ it’s a horrible sight, I think, don’t you think?
She also shared memories from behind the scenes of the show, filled with laughter and good humor. “We would spend the whole day laughing, basically, between scenes, because these are funny people,” she recalled.
“And especially someone like Matthew, whose goal was: how many laughs can I get in real life every day? So we were always laughing so hard, tears were streaming down our faces.”
