Norway and Latvia were added tonight to those countries that are calling on their citizens to leave Ukraine, citing the security situation and the concentration of large military forces in the region.
The Norwegian Foreign Ministry said that “due to the serious and unpredictable situation” in Ukraine, it advised citizens to avoid traveling to that country and urged those there to leave.
He also advised Norwegians not to travel to areas of Russia less than 250 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, as well as to avoid traveling throughout Belarus, except in the capital Minsk.
Latvia, for its part, has called on its citizens to leave Ukraine because of the “serious security threat posed by Russia” and a “credible escalation threat,” the foreign ministry said.
