Lithuania and Estonia sanction 11 figures for ‘human rights violations’

Vilnius and Tallinn announced today that they have sanctioned eleven Georgian figures responsible for human rights abuses during recent pro-European Union protests that were broken up by police in Tbilisi. Tens of thousands of protesters have gathered outside Georgia’s parliament over the past four nights, with police using tear gas and water cannons to break up Sunday’s rally. The foreign ministers of Lithuania and Estonia posted on the X platform a similar list of sanctioned persons who have been “banned from entering” their respective countries due to their responsibility for “human rights violations”.
